Bogdan KORCZOWSKI (1954) - Lot 225
Bogdan KORCZOWSKI (1954) Untitled, 1987 Mixed media on paper Signed and dated lower right 33 x 24.5 cm Bodgan Korczowski, born 1954 in Krakow, Poland, lives and works in Paris. Academy of Fine Arts, Krakow; Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Bogdan paints in oils: "a Fauvist symbolist painter with flamboyant abstraction" writes Christian Forestier. In search of the spiritual, Bogdan is moved by a powerful breath that draws us into the swirls of a molten flow of matter. "Fleeting symbols, secret and initiatory languages (...) Triangles, Byzantine crosses, Stars of David (...) the writings emerge through the pictorial material and then disappear under a chromatic flow" (Laure Gayet).
