DUFY Raoul [Le Havre, 1877 - Forcalquier,... - Lot 70 - Varenne Enchères
DUFY Raoul [Le Havre, 1877 - Forcalquier, 1953], French painter, draftsman, engraver, book illustrator, fabric designer, ceramist, tapestry and furniture designer, interior designer, public space designer and theater designer. Letter signed, addressed to M. Geismar. Perpignan April 3, 1947; 1 1/2 page in-4°. About his portrait and his health problems: "My health has really improved. You can imagine that it has been rather delicate to introduce an original doctor in his methods in the midst of the friendly medicine of Perpignan [...] my detoxification is not yet complete and my legs are still rather bad. The treatment continues and I hope to return to Paris during the summer. I have resumed the work I had abandoned for three months. I explained myself with your philtre paper, it is a marvel. I managed to find a very surprising technique, which is both gouache and fresco; you will see that soon, because in my next shipment to Paris there will be for you an experiment of my new formula. He evokes his distractions of which that of the illustration of the Bucolics. "You speak to me about the drawings of Cazals. I have not yet exploited all that I can get out of them, they have remained in the state of documents".
