DIANE DE FRANCE duchess of Angouleme and Etampes [Paris, 1538 - id., 1619], natural daughter of Henri II and a young Piedmontese woman Filippa Duco. She played an important political role in reconciling her brother Henry II with Henry of Navarre. She married Horace Farnese, then the marshal François duc de Montmorency. Autograph letter signed " Diane L. de France ", addressed to the duke of Savoy, Charles Emmanuel. Saumur, November 30, 1589; 1 page folio, address, slightly pale.
