DELACROIX Eugène [Charenton-Saint-Maurice,... - Lot 64 - Varenne Enchères
DELACROIX Eugène [Charenton-Saint-Maurice, 1798 - Paris, 1863], French painter. Autograph letter signed addressed to Pierre Andrieu. "This August 31"; 2 pages in-8°. "I am in a great boredom as a result of the annoyances that are interfering with my work. I have finished the painting and even the sketches, but I am not well disposed to continue and I would need to rest for a few days, otherwise I will only resume the rest of the work with slowness. An essential matter is holding me back for another three or four days, so that if I add to that the short rest of five or six days that I will take, I will see myself driven to the end of next week. I had hoped to ask you to come now, but as you can see that would be pointless because of the disorganized nature of all my steps. I wanted to write to you so that you would not assume that I have lost sight of our work and so that you would know that this interruption is beyond my control. I hope you have had enough to fill these moments. Once back to work I hope we will not leave it again.
